Sir,

Foreign Office, June 29, 1912. I AM directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 22nd instant, forwarding copy of a telegram from the Government of India explaining the circumstances of the export from India to Shanghai of small quantities of touch opium.

His Majesty's Minister at Peking has now been instructed by telegram to explain matters accordingly to the Chinese Government, and to endeavour to arrange for the release of the chests mentioned in his telegram No. 123 of the 5th instant.
